Björn Helgason

Lighting designer and Cinematographer

Björn is one of Vesturport’s founders and for whom he has worked, among other things, as lighting designer on Romeo & Juliet, Metamorphosis, Together and supervising the DVD recording of the play Woyzeck. He has been a board member from the beginning and has been responsible for multiple jobs and projects on behalf of Vesturport over the
 years. Björn has worked on several feature films, short films and multiple TV programs as a cinematographer, camera man and gaffer. He worked for Channel 1 Iceland “RÚV” (Icelandic National Broadcasting Service) for seven years as a cinematographer, lighting and camera operator on various projects. He was responsible for the most prestigious projects produced during his time there. Björn works as a freelance cinematographer and lighting designer.
His recent work as lighting designer includes The Heart of Robin Hood, written by David Farr and directed by Gísli Örn Gardarsson for the Royal Shakespeare Company, DNS in Bergen and ART in Boston.
