Ólafur Darri Ólafsson graduated from The Icelandic Drama School in 1998.
Since then he has been involved as an actor in numerous productions with The National Theatre of Iceland (e.g. Ivanov, Peer Gynt, Celebration, King Lear, The Bacchae) and The City Theatre of Reykjavik (e.g. Enemy of The People, Abigails Party, Summerfolk, Arsenic and Old Lace, Of Mice and Men.) He has also worked with many independent theatre groups and is one of the founders of Vesturport where he has been in Woyzeck, Romeo and Juliet, Together, Shopping Mall Shattered, Crazy Gary´s Mobile Disco, Bastard and Titus Andronicus. Olafur Darri played the part of Pierre in the original production of The Heart of Robin Hood with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford upon Avon in 2011.

Darri has appeared in tv series such as The Eagle for DR in Denmark, 1066 for Channel 4 in the UK and True Detective and Banshee for HBO in the US.  He has acted in a few films including, Kings Road, Undercurrent, Children (which he co-wrote and produced), Parents (which he co-produced), White Night Wedding, Beowulf & Grendel, Reykjavik Rotterdam, Stormland, Country Wedding, The Deep, Contraband, XL, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and A Walk Among The Tombstones.

He has on six occasions been nominated for The Icelandic Film Awards, Eddan as Best Actor, receiving the award for Rokland and The Deep. He has also received the award twice, for Children (Best Script) and Parents (Best Film.) He has three times received an award  for acting at The Icelandic Theatre Awards, Griman, for Ivanov, Romeo and Juliet and Of Mice and Men as well as receiving two further nominations.

Olafur Darri was awarded Best Actor at the IFF Ivanovo for Children in 2007 and Best Actor at the IFF Karlovy Vary for XL in 2013.

He is a big cuddly creature with a chocolate addiction… No really, we are not kidding…
