Björn Helgason

Lighting designer and Cinematographer

Björn Helgason begun his road to redemption at the age of 16 when he took part in his fist theatre performance
“Rocky Horror Picture Show” at his high school in Iceland. The road was paved for him as the blackbird of his family.
Björn is one of Vesturport founders and for Vesturport he has worked among other thing as lighting designer on Romeo & Juliet, Metamorphoses, Together and supervising the recording of Woyzeck DVD the play.
As well as being a board member from the beginning and responsible for multiple jobs and projects on the behalf of Vesturport over the years.
Björn has worked on several feature films, short films and multible TV programs as a Cinematograper, camera man and gaffer.
Björn worked for Channel 1 Iceland “RÚV” (Icelandic National Broadcasting Service) for seven years as a cinematographer, lighting camera and operator on various projects. Being responsible for the most prestige projects produced during his time there.
Björn works as a freelance Cinematographer and lighting designer.
